In A Symphony Of Darkness And Space

By  Af Louise | Aug-Sep 2021 | Magazine: Metalized | Country: Denmark

J.P. Krom has released his new album, which is a blend of all the heavy stuff we know. The only difference is that it sounds as if it takes place in outer space. Metalized has spoken with J.P. Krom and asked a few questions about the album and the thoughts behind it.

FIRST AND FOREMOST, HOW’S IT GOING?

It’s going well, I’m really happy with the new one publication, YOD. I love the results of mine work and the people I have worked with.

THIS IS YOUR SECOND RELEASE HOW TO IS IT TO HAVE IT OUT?

It’s super! It took so long and it has had a good reception, just like the video clip for the single «Poison Girl».

WHY MAKE AN EP AND NOT A NEW ONEALBUM?

This is mainly for two reasons. Firstly these days it is more usual to publish either singles or EP instead of a whole album.
Thisis because that with all the different varieties of music we can listen to via streaming today is necessary to quickly capture the listener. On it On the other hand, I decided that I would like to wanted to make something that was simpler in every way compared to what I had done at The Inner Gods, which is J.PKrom’s first album. It was so at first that I actually only thought me to release a single that should have been «Poison Girl». It was difficult for me to make music, it took a lot of my time and resources since I have been away from being a musician. I am usually teacher, it is the work that can pay my bills and enable me to produce my own music. In addition to this, a soloist is required do the work of a whole band.

SOME OF THE SONGS ARE SOME ‘SPACEY’ EFFECTS, WHERE DID THAT IDEA COME FROM?

Synths have the ability to give the music a sound of surroundings and make us feel more. Braulio Morales, who is a music producer, was real good at choosing sounds that were different from those original sounds that I had made for the songs. The synths from «From My Hands» take us straight away in space, in the future, where the planet, the song is around, is Mercury.
«Poison Girl» takes us again with a deep place in space, but it is all in all a story about love and death. «Tower of Destruction” takes us to an ancient place, where everything has been destroyed.

WHERE DOES THE TITLE YOD COME FROM?

It is an astrological aspect. The aspects of astrology is based on distance between where a planet is located, and then where the others are located. That is that the distances between
Mercury in Gemini, Pluto in Capricorn, and Venus in the scorpion, these are all plants that move get into constellations. In the world of astrology you call it YOD, or better known as
«God’s finger», and why all this? It grounds in that the first, second and third songs stand for everyone three in the above constellations. This is all because this whole project is based
on astrology, I also call what I do astrometal. The difference between The Inner Gods and YOD is that for the first time, I have made a song for one astrological concept and at the same time for a tarot short [in the song «The Towers, ed.], which is a way on which some trace.

IS THERE AN ALBUM COMING?

I have several songs ready for a new release, but it all depends on how YOD performs. However, the concept will be the same, astrology + metal = astrometal.
